Meet my mom, Deborah.

My mom is amazing! She is an extraordinarily talented cook and baker. Her work out schedule would make Bruce Lee look like an amateur. She has this funny way of expressing her ideas; she will use her hands and arms to make gestures but she won’t say anything and I will know exactly what she is talking about, even after we have had a whole conversation a few minutes earlier about something completely different.

What I admire most about her is…

I most admire the way she takes care of everybody else around her before even thinking about herself. She has this amazingly selfless soul that I have always loved.

My favorite thing to do with her is…

I love taking hour long walks with her. It turns into a laughing fest and one of us saying how we should be on a reality TV show with just each other and just on our walks because the rest of the time, we are completely boring.

Ways we are most similar …

I think the way we think about things is very similar. If she finds something funny, I will; if she feels as though something is off, I will feel the same thing. We have become very adept at reading each other’s minds and knowing exactly what the other is thinking.

Ways we are most different…

The way we handle stress is super different. When I handle stress, I am visibly stressed, I am scatterbrained, everyone knows I am stressed, I break out, it’s not pretty. When my mom handles stress, she becomes very introverted and very quiet; if you know her well, you can tell she is stressed, but from the outside, it’s fairly hard to see.

I think our mother-daughter relationship is so special because…

We understand each other. We are basically the same person, only 32 years apart. Our adventures become such special memories that I cherish and will cherish for decades to come and the older we get, the closer we get, the more intimate our relationship becomes. My mom is the most important person in my life and I think that is definitely one of the main reasons our relationship is so special. So many people take for granted their mom and I try to include her in things we do and treasure the time we have together.

Meet my daughter, Eleanor.

She is a positive and energetic woman, who wears her heart on her sleeve. She loves deeply and with her entire being. She is a strong Christian – a true believer. She loves to sing to the radio when she drives.

What I admire most about her…

She is beautiful inside and out.

My favorite thing to do with her…

Take long walks and talk.

Ways we are most similar …

We think very similar thoughts and can often complete each other’s sentences.

Ways we are most different…

I am very patient and she is not.

I think our mother-daughter relationship is so special because…

We share our strong Christian faith and attend Christian concerts together – which is super special. We understand each other well – sometimes without even talking. We love to go out and eat sushi together. It cannot get much better than that!
