Meet my mom, Sheila.

My mom is an amazing business woman, homemaker and friend. She has been an incredible role model for me and my sister our entire lives- she is selfless, smart and one of the strongest people I know. Other than her family, the things she loves most in life are good bourbon and the Florida Gators!

What I admire most about her is…

As I get older, I realize how incredible my mom was at balancing being the CEO of a success business (that she runs with my dad) and an incredible mother. My mom never missed a single dance performance, soccer game or anything growing up, always made a home cooked meal every night and still managed to grow a business from scratch.

My favorite thing to do with her is…

My mom and I have always shared a love for food and (now) drinks. My favorite thing to do with her and our whole family is to enjoy a great meal with good conversation.

Ways we are most similar…

Most people that know us say that I am my mom’s “mini-me”. We are similar in many ways, and I feel so fortunate to have inherited her drive and work ethic. Sometimes we can be a bit impatient, but I know that I owe my success to those traits we have in common.

Ways we are most different…

Something I have always admired about my mom is her optimism. She is fearless and truly believes she is going to be successful in everything she does- in work or otherwise. We rarely disagree, but my love for Billy Joel is one thing that we don’t have in common!

I think our mother-daughter relationship is so special because…

I am so thankful for my mom and the relationship that we have. I am one of the few people I know that talks to my parents multiple times most days- she is truly the person that knows me best in the world. Over the years it has changed and grown into a wonderful friendship, and I don’t know what I would do without her.

Meet my daughter, Priya.

My daughter Priya is our oldest daughter and many people consider her to be a “mini me”! Priya is a great combination of her dad and me – exceedingly smart and extremely passionate. She works harder than anyone I know, loves immensely those around her and cares about all that she does. She does have an intense personality and wants to exceed all expectations which can be tough. She has become known for her planner where she keeps track of all that she has to do.

What I admire most about her…

I admire her tremendous work ethic and the willingness she has to do anything that is needed to help her achieve her goals. I always say that she would “clean toilets” if that is what it took to get something she really wanted!

My favorite thing to do with her…

I love when Priya gets in front of what we call “Priya Vision” and watches videotaped memories of when she was little. She becomes that child again and we laugh and talk like no other time.

Ways we are most similar …

I think this question would require more space than you have. We love life and want to be the best at everything we do. We can be intense but people know we are in their corner and will work to get things done no matter what. We do love to travel and experience all that life has to offer, and we are not going to miss out on anything! She and I are consummate planners.

Ways we are most different…

At this stage in my life I understand who I am and what I want from life. Priya is still working her way to find that. She does not always see how great she is and needs to be reminded of that.

I think our mother-daughter relationship is so special because…

Having a daughter who I believe considers me one of her best friends, as I do her. This is one of the most important blessings in my life that cannot be adequately expressed. My affection for her is one that can not be measured. I can always feel her heart and I love her with all my heart and only wish for her happiness in life ahead. I want to remind her to not to sweat the small stuff – and it is all small stuff. Something I need to apply more in my own life.
